Drinkaware comments on the evaluation of minimum unit pricing for alcohol in Scotland
Karen Tyrell, CEO of Drinkaware, commenting on the evaluation of minimum unit pricing for alcohol in Scotland, said:
"The evaluation shows that minimum unit pricing is a proportionate policy that can assist in the reduction of alcohol-related harm.
"While it appears it did not have a measurable impact on dependent drinkers, it has had an impact on those who drink above recommended levels.
"It's clear the need for other measures, including alcohol education, information and treatment remain important.
"This report will add to the growing evidence base, and we will be reviewing its findings closely to understand the impact of minimum unit pricing across the board."
