Simon Hopkins
Finance Director (Interim)
Simon joined Drinkaware as Finance Director (Interim) on a part-time basis in March 2024.
Following a long career across multiple sectors, ranging from outsourcing to central government, Simon moved into the charity sector in 2010 and for the last decade has specialised in financial strategy, whole-organisation change and turnaround.
He was the creator of The Finance Journey, which is now used as Charity Finance Group’s go-to development model for charity finance teams. He spent much of his early senior career outside mainstream finance in areas like business development, end-to-end service management and contract compliance. He has strong charity leadership experience in diverse areas such as impact, CRM and L&D, and was a member of the steering group for the Charity Digital Code. Simon is a regular columnist for Charity Finance magazine and speaks regularly at events on subjects ranging from finance to good governance. In 2014 he was the recipient of a special recognition award for his work to develop emerging talent across the sector. Most of his charity experience has been in the health sphere, both as a senior leader and trustee.
He is motivated above all else by the opportunity to develop talent, and outside Drinkaware is helping to develop greater bench strength in the sector in the critical area of turnaround leadership.
