"Alcohol-specific deaths have been rising sharply since 2019 and today’s statistics show another rise, taking us to a depressing new high.

“All of these deaths are preventable and sadly, according to our research, you are more likely to die from an alcohol specific illness if you live in the most deprived areas of the nation.

“The government’s forthcoming NHS ten year plan will rightly focus on prevention. This should address the inequalities that are exacerbating these death rates, improve the early diagnosis of liver disease and support the public to better understand how alcohol is impacting their health.”
